One of my favourite things to do is to talk about nutrition and how it affects our future and especially development. To an average individual, nutrition is simply food but to me, nutrition is more than just food; it is quality, quantity, care, access, knowledge, status, lifestyle and more. It is an indicator for wealth.
Current data shows that achieving a malnutrition free country is still a major challenge as millions of children below the age of five suffer from stunting and Nigeria is second to India with the highest rate of malnourished women and children under five.
A group of people we tend to forget are adolescents and usually nutrition programmes are not targeted towards them. Adolescents should be seen as second window of opportunity to eradicating malnutrition.
We really cannot improve nutrition without addressing the social determinants of health poverty, education, child or teenage pregnancies and all these center around adolescents.
Today, I want to share photos of my engagement with girls in a secondary school providing them with nutrition education. They enjoyed every bit this activity and for me, it was fun!

Cheers!
