The 4th Nigerian Family Planning Conference was held between 7th – 9th November, 2016. The theme for this year’s Conference was ‘Family Planning in Nigeria: The Journey so far’. The Event took place at the Sheraton Hotel, Abuja.
Abstracts were invited from intending participants on the theme as well as the from the following Sub-themes:
- Facilitators and barriers to family planning uptake in Nigeria
- Expanding strategic partnership for family planning services
- Family planning and social norms in Nigeria
- Reaching the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs
The last two conferences, I played huge roles especially at the pre-conference events for young people but this year, it was a lot different as I have switched areas. Presently, I major in nutrition though there is a strong link between nutrition and family planning. Also, I was engaged with work and activities at the state level and so could not make it this year.
I missed being part of the conference, the learning experience and meeting the professionals in the field of Family Planning. I attended the pre-conference for young people this year and it was slightly different from previous conferences. More engagement between the youth and funders but less strategic. I hope it is not a one stop activity.
Here are some photos from the pre conference.
And a selfie with my lovely colleagues
