WHYTE’S SUNDAY BEST: MAKEOVER, GINGER SPICED JOLLOF RICE AND A BIBLE VERSE THAT TURNS ME ON

Hey Everyone,

Woke up late Sunday morning. I didn’t think that I would oversleep but I did and I feel very shameful. I don’t usually over sleep but I did and I guess I was too tired….tired to the bones, muscles. I think I dreamt….very funny dream like that…I hope it is not malaria. Kids are down with malaria and I am working hard to make sure that they are okay, eating well; taking enough fruits, water and keeping the temperature down. Anyway, its been a long time since they have visited the hospital so I guess it is okay to fall once in a while…..God dey!

After the normal morning routine, I had a long look at myself in a mirror and then I said to the mirror, ” Mirror, mirror on the wall, this woman isn’t the most ‘well kept together’ woman anymore”. Oh well, work and unnecessary stress have taken its toil on this woman and she needs help…..definitely a make over.

Not a bad idea! I started with deep conditioning my natural mane and I loved the feeling. This week (thank God for the holiday), I will be giving myself a treat; my hair down to my toe nails. Definitely nothing too expensive but will make out time to enjoy my body. After all, my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. LOL (A perfect excuse).

I made this perfect pot of Ginger spiced jollof rice for the family and everyone loved it event the Malaria ridden Isy and TY licked their fingers. The chicken was fried in coconut oil and it was tasty, soft and delicious. I used a lot of ginger, fresh tomatoes, carrots and sweet corn. The kids downed it with glasses of orange juice. The meal is a winner and I will try it again and maybe next time with more greens and maybe coconut juice.

My Bible verse for the weekend is: Jesus Wept (John 11:35)

Just two simple words, and yet they carry so much significance.  This is the shortest verse in all of the Bible, but one of its most powerful, and insightful. Its easy as this….I can cry, it is okay to cry when things don’t go as you want them to but don’t let these things weigh you down or control you. After crying, dust your bottom and move on. do not turn back….or moan over the past.

Jesus wept but the Bible did not end there. We had Acts, Romans, Corinthians ……….. Cry and move ON!

Have a beautiful week ahead and enjoy the holidays too.

Cheers.
