The inaugural Summit on accountability for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) is organized by The Federal Ministry of Health Nigeria. Co-sponsored by Champions for Change based at the Public Health Institute, the Health Reform Foundation of Nigeria, and Women Friendly Initiative, this Summit brings together public and private sector stakeholders in health and development to incorporate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the country’s efforts to ensure the accountability of life-saving health care delivery for marginalized women, newborns, children, and youth. Co-funded by the development Research and Projects Center, Planned Parenthood Global, Pathfinder International, and Women Deliver, this Summit has the following objectives:
  • Examine the effectiveness of current efforts to deliver RMNCAH interventions, and identify opportunities to scale up best practices in women’s and children’s health;
  • Develop a collective agenda for mainstreaming accountability mechanisms into RMNCAH initiatives at local and national levels of SDG programming;
  • Share experiense, build alliances, and strengthen collaboration between key actors in civil society, government, media, and religious institutions; and
  • Strengthen public support for RMNCAH through strategic education and media engagement. 
The three-day Summit will convene key stakeholders from Nigerian civil society, government, media, and the donor community to advance national efforts to improve the health of marginalized Nigerians.
