BLOGGERS IN DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE (BINDI) FOR NUTRITION IS HERE!

Hey everyone,
Sometime last year, I got thinking about getting bloggers (especially females) involved in maternal and child nutrition; especially as the SDGs have been launched, the need to understand what this means to us; as women and bloggers, create awareness and support initiatives directed to improve the wellbeing of the vulnerable in our society. These thoughts gave life to BINDI and I am excited to share that BINDI is finally here and rolling. Bloggers fasten your seatbelts and let’s GO!
Rationale
The United Nations has adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as key to achieving long term dividends towards improving the quality of lives of the developing nations, who form the majority of the global populations. The ability of the stakeholders, particularly those in the decision making and programming levels to clearly communicate the SDGs and build ownership is critical to ensuring the success of achieving the goals, particularly in Africa and with special focus on Nigeria. Nigeria’s performance is very strategic for Africa because of her leadership role and the driving impact of her population (1 in every 4 African is a Nigerian). There is however, a lack of knowledge on these goals. To bridge this gap, BINDI is created to serve as a a communal platform for bloggers and other social media users to understand these issues, create awareness and engender maximum support to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
About BINDI
Bloggers in Development Initiative (BINDI) is a coalition of female bloggers who care about the post 2015 Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on sharing information and generating discussions on productive innovations and the amazing work Non-profits and Non-Governmental Organizations are doing in Nigeria and around the world. We believe that the more bloggers participate in development, the more social and behavioral changes can be achieved through our blogs and social media sites. BINDI is open to social media savvy young women and girls.

BINDI’s Major Activities:
BINDI will work with Government, Non-Profits and partners by disseminating information to support initiatives in the area of NUTRITION by writing and uploading on web pages and blogsites, features, reviews, human stories, success stories, community actions, policy news, country news, partner news etc. We believe that bloggers and social media professionals play an important role in creating change towards achieving a malnutrition free world.
Mission:Establish a vibrant coalition of female bloggers in Nigeria working to increase awareness and interaction on the SDGs, their implementation and impacts through the social media.
Vision: Create a sustainable social media platform where every person has access to quality information on nutrition.
