MY WEEKEND LIKE NEVER BEFORE

Hey everyone! How was your weekend? I had a workaholic type of weekend. On Saturday, it was all about cooking, cleaning, ironing, queuing up for fuel, shopping and preparing the kids for school. It was all great because I had the Sunday to myself; eat, sleep and watch the television. I no send!

There’s no weekend without the usual blog trotting, dropping comments on other blogs and following other blogs. Since I consider myself a member of the blogging community, I love to keep relationships no matter the distance….at least I try.

There’s no weekend without the ‘weekend rice’ whether it is party rice, ‘visiting rice’ or Sunday rice it doesn’t matter at all. Rice in whatever colour or shape, whether cooked with firewood or with microwave must be eaten during the weekends. And so, I made this amazing jollof rice with plenty garlic. It was LOVELY and to spice it up a bit, I added cucumber, mangoes, carrots and boiled eggs. No need for waist shaper…lol

And before I knew it, I had swept the plate. It was that easy! I loved the combo. Though the kids didn’t like the mangoes in the rice, I had to separate them but they sure enjoyed the meal too. And guess what, I was lucky to tune to BET  and the 2015 Black Girls Rock was on air. My lucky day!

I took the pictures with my mobile phone I hope you don’t mind. Watched Fantasia’s performance and I had goose bumps. Her voice is awesome and I can listen her all day and not get tired. She rocks!

And then Michelle Obama looked flawless! she spoke very well. She urged girls and women to be supportive of each other and to dare to be best in anything they have chosen to be. She told girls to make education their priority and work very hard to excel. She definitely rocks! I had my kids sit with me to watch the show and it was an awesome time to share and talk about girls education and why it is important.

And then, the amazing Jada Pinkie Smith received an outstanding award. It was lovely to see her husband, Will Smith hand the award to her. He spoke about when TMZ posted on their divorce and how he couldn’t imagine a world without her…..I had tears in my eyes. Anyway, they looked good together and I bet for many years coming. She Rocks!

Black Girls Rock I tell you! I enjoyed every bit of the show and I hope they do a repeat. It encouraged me in many ways than one and my daughter felt every bit special. We Rock!
