WHEN CALAMITY IS SERVED AS A HEARTY BREAKFAST

Hey everyone and since this is the only place I can call my own I have decided to pour out my heart. I have been sad and depressed and gradually being eaten up by unknown predators….some are known, yes because I know them but they don’t know me but all the same…they are predators…eating and swallowing, biting more than they can chew.
We are in the world and like we all know challenges come and go…unemployment, poverty, corruption but some challenges have come to stay and with no sight of leaving us any time soon. I am deeply worried that huge number of people die everyday; bomb blasts, terrorists attacks, plane crashes, collapsed buildings, road accidents, abductions and kidnappings.
The recent death of more than 200 school children aboard a South Korean ship that capsized and abduction of over 200 girls in North East Nigeria haunts me. Have we become negligent, careless and inconsiderate that we do not respect and love the uniqueness of the human race? have we become so greedy and corrupt that we have failed to love our neighbours as ourselves? Have we decided to worship false gods and turn our backs to the one true living God? Yes we have! and its consequences are horrific.

Who has ever attended a burial ceremony and meets the chief mourner eating Isiewu and Nkwobi with alcohol beverages in both hands calling on his friends to join him? Will a crayfish seller who sees a rat in her shop, lock the rat in the shop with her crayfish and say to herself “that rat must die there”? No, because the rat will eat the crayfish and grow bigger and stronger and the next day when she opens her shop, she may run mad because they will be nothing for her to sell. Our leaders have disappointed us and they have abandoned their priorities. They have fed us with lies and our bellies are shamelessly glowing…..Kwashiorkor.
We all need to act now! let us love each other and take away the barriers; race, tribes, sex, colour..stop corruption, greed and all acts that encourage disunity amongst us. Religious leaders should preach against corruption, violence against women and girls; rape, child bride, child trafficking, domestic violence much more than they preach about tithes and church building…..yes, it matters!
Mothers need to create a balance between their careers and their duties as nurturers. We need to raise our children to be humane and to love and respect human life….fathers should be role models.
While we pray for the souls of the dead to rest in peace, may we also pray for the girls kidnapped to find their way home. I believe in miracles and I believe God will show his strength very soon…..Amen!
