Happy World’s Breastfeeding week to everyone!. Especially to all those breast feeding, that were breastfed, and yet to be breast fed……..waiting on the…….the breasts.


Why is Breastfeeding important?


For babies,

• Breastfeeding protects babies.
• It is rich on Nutrients and Antibodies.
• Easier to digest………no go slow!.
• protects baby from illness.

Mothers also benefit from breastfeeding;

• No mixing of formula, no sterilizing, it is ever ready. All you need to do is to bring it out of the ‘bag’ and …….it’s ready.
• Breastfeeding can save your money, there’s nothing that ‘eats’ your money like milk (except fuel).
• makes you feel great, skin to skin contact, bonding (with child or….)
• lowers the risk of Ovarian cancer, breast cancer……..I guess everyone would breastfeed, for this point.

Fathers also benefit from breastfeeding too

• Happy that his child is healthy.
• Happy that he has to save some money; no artificial milk, not spending on medicine.
• Feels love because himself and the child are eating from the same source
• happy that he doesn’t have to worry about fuel in the generator when the baby wakes up at night to eat……..he wants to sleep.
• Happy that he can hang out with his friends at night, without his wife, because she  has to breastfeed. 

The society benefits from breastfeeding too

• Nearly 1,000 of infant deaths are prevented and medical care costs are lower.
• More workforce since mothers miss less work to care for infants.
• Better for the environment; less trash, milk tins and plastic bottles.

Others that do want you to benefit include: (In Helen Paul’s accent)

• Manufacturers of baby food  will not be happy because you are doing exclusive breastfeeding, you are spoiling their “market”.
• Bad belle people, who envy you, they want to be like you but they can’t…….your neighbour (male) that has been eyeing you……even as a pregnant married woman.
• your ‘friend’, who wants to visit you in the hospital (when your baby falls sick), saying “sorry, kpele” as if your life depends on it.
• Gossips (CNN,radio without battery, gbegboro, amebo) so they can put up your story on their pages, abi?
• Bad relatives that will want your children to be taking last position 100/100, that will be like ‘Akpos’……..and the rest.

So the choice is all yours! choose well…….don’t let your enemies laugh at you, breastfeeding is great, fun and a beautiful experience.
