If there was something I was known for, it was being associated with fear, “fear fear Jayne” I could be so fearful of even the tiniest little things (cockroaches, rats, spiders). I remember back at secondary school I jumped through the window and before one could say “Jack Robinson” I jumped the fence trying escape the cane of a teacher. There are so many things within my environment I am scared of and so many times I find myself surrounded by ‘what if’s’. what if I loose my job, what if I can’t be good mother, what if I love my family and they don’t love me in return, what if I die……… what if…….?. It got so bad and I had to put myself together.
Fear can take hold of man (Psalm 48:6) and cause his life to be wasted (Psalm 78:33) If he is seized with great fear (Luke 8:37) it can keep him from all God has from him- I feared people will criticize me-my work, my weight, my personality……. and I hid in my shell, kept my thoughts to myself, stayed away from my family…….Keeping away from what God has for me.
I have learned that God has made me his daughter and when I have God as my father (which is priceless), there’s no need to be afraid-Ye though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil-because you are my father.
The only type of fear we are supposed to have is the fear of the lord, when we have the fear of the lord, the lord will grant us the desires of our hearts, give me confidence (Prov. 14:26)-To face the crowd, face the panel at a job interview; a satisfying life (Prov.19:23); supply everything you need (Psalm 34:9); keep his eye on me (Psalm33:18); Protect me from evil (Proverbs 16:6).
