I am learning to love,
Not as I once did, through others’ eyes—
But with feet bare upon the earth,
Under wide, uncharted skies.
I am learning to love the taste of sea salt,
Sharp on my tongue, free on the breeze,
Letting waves pull me, letting tides teach me
The strength in surrender, the gift of release.

I am learning to love the open forest,
Its secrets held in dappled shade,
Where roots entwine like ancient stories,
Where sunlight dances, unafraid.
I am learning to love the air unbound,
Fresh and sweet as morning rain,
Filling my lungs with a fierce new freedom,
Casting off the weight of regrets, pain.
At forty-one, I am learning to love the woman I am-me
With laughter lines, with deep broad smiles,
A heart unlatched, a spirit untamed,
Alive in places I once thought dead.
I am learning to love this life I own,
With every breath, a quiet claim,
To walk my path, my voice, my truth,
Fearless, bold and free of shame.
