JANUARY CHALLENGE

It is expected that the New Year ushers a special kind of ‘feeling’. The feelings could vary depending on how the individual connects with the environment and life. Sometimes it is anxiety, uneasiness about what the New Year will bring and the strong desire to do something different. It could also be a feeling of indifference; Having no particular interest in the New Year especially, when you have lost interest in living your purpose.

It is essential to know that these feelings are natural and how we feel at the beginning of the New Year has no impact on how successful we will be the rest of the year. On this note, I wish you a purposeful and fulfilling New Year filled with Joy, Peace and Good Health. Let’s bring it on!

For me, the month of January is quite a significant month because many decisions and planning take place at this time. I get to sit down with my family and discuss what we would like to do differently in the year. Also, I review and set personal goals using the Smart Woman Life Planner (SWLP). The SWLP has been effective for me since its creation in 2016 and keeps me on my toes. The feel of using a new planner in January is such a beautiful feeling. It reminds me of another opportunity to live a purpose-driven life and create the lifestyle I want.

This January, the first challenge is to dream of the better life you want with clear timelines. Look for pictures from magazines and newspapers that can depict what you have in your dream. Put up a vision board with the photos or words that inspire you. Paste the vision board in any location of your choice but where you can see it. For instance, if you want a car, have a photo of a vehicle on your vision board with a timeline, say six months or June 2022.

The second challenge is to get an accountability partner. An accountability partner is someone who would hold you responsible for your goals. You can tell them what you plan to achieve, and they will remind you about your goals and support you to achieve them. If you are held accountable for your goals, you will be more driven to achieve them. An accountability partner should be a safe space.

The third challenge is to plant a flower. The symbolic planting of a flower in January means planting a seed that you have to nurture to grow. Planting seed of gratitude, growth and self-care. This reminds you that you are responsible for your growth and progress in life. A small flower pot should suffice for this activity.

I am here to provide any support you might need to achieve your goals. Feel free to look out for something to motivate you to live an intentional and purposeful lifestyle. It is okay to start slow in January.

Cheers to a New Year!
