The cool, dry, rusty air that comes with the Harmattan, the smell of Christmas and the feeling of a new opportunity to live life to the fullest. Bonjour and a beautiful new month to my neighbours!
It is November and there’s no feeling better than the ‘ember’ feeling. Lots of gratitude to have made it this far and the feeling of fulfillment that almost everything is going your way. The month of October was quite in a hurry. One minute, it was the first day of October and the next minute it was the last day of October.
The challenges that we set to achieve in October, were some of the best this year and were quite rewarding. Imagine living on $1. The equivalent of $1 in Naira is about 570 Naira. It was quite hard to live a single day on that for just my expenses (not inclusive of the family). I could not eat a decent meal and I could not stop thinking about my next meal and where the money will come from. It was an extremely hard thing to do!
I could not have any physical meeting with the person I had identified as my target because we were very busy and could not just make it happen. Hopefully, I will achieve this challenge before the end of the year. October was such a beautiful month as I progressed with work and side hustles. I felt ‘aaha’ moments so many times within the month.
This month of November, we will be taking all our excitement and gratitude for the year 2021 to another level. Let’s just say we will be showing gratitude all through the month. Gratitude means to be thankful, to show appreciation for, and to return kindness. We will be showing gratitude to ourselves, to people who deserve our appreciation and ‘give back’. In the words of Henry Ward Beecham and another, “Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul” and gratitude turns what we have into enough”-Anonymous.
Are you in? If yes, let’s get down to business.
The first challenge is to show gratitude to yourself and we will do this in three ways; Speak words of affirmation to yourself every morning, have a spa day (massage, manicure, pedicure, skincare) and or write a letter of gratitude to yourself. Thank yourself for staying true through hard times and challenges, thank yourself for all the steps you have taken to survive, and lastly, be appreciative of your future. The future is definitely bright.
The second challenge is to be appreciative of someone who has held your hand through life’s challenges or opened doors for you. You could choose to do this through a phone call, or letter writing or a face-to-face meeting.
The third challenge is to communicate in gratitude to God. Do this without making any request whatsoever. Speak words of gratitude, pray with the spirit of gratitude and show gratitude to God.
Let’s get started! It’s the 4th day of the month already and I am excited and more than ready to get on the challenge. Are you motivated to get on the challenge with me? I look forward to receiving feedback from you.
Cheers!
