5 TIPS FOR INTROVERTS TO PUSH THROUGH AS A BUSINESS OWNER

I may be here and there, meeting new people, publicising what I do and my brand but I am a typical introvert. I am shy, nervous and would love to stay indoors all day but I think I have grown a little out of it. An introvert is someone who prefers calm minimally stimulating environments. They tend to feel drained after socializing and regain their energy by spending time alone. And so, if you feel this way, you are an introvert and i recommend that you read this post and if possible, take notes. They are countless time I have lost opportunities to grow my business because I didn’t want to talk or share my business idea with others in a room. At some point after so many regrets, I decided to change it and if I can, you can.

As a business owner and a typical introvert, these are my favourite 5 tips for pushing through as  a business owner. Let’s go…

  1. Develop an alter ego! Yeah right! I do this whenever I have to make presentations to a large audience. My alter ego is called ‘Jayniqua’. She does all the talking, gestures and looks into the eyes in the room and Jayne does all the smiling. Make sure you leave your introverted self at home and let your alter ego make all the money.
  2. Focus on your strengths. constantly repeating to yourself that there’s nothing to fear than fear itself should give strength. Take one moment at a time, focus on other strengths within you and do what you need to do. Here is when I have a new hairstyle or I am wearing a new pair of shoes and I just take my mind off my weakness and focus on how lovely and comfy my shoes are.
  3. Use a script! I have found myself answering the same questions over and over again. If possible research on questions that usually come up and memorise it before the meeting or event. You’ll feel prepared and it will boost your confidence.
  4. Get outside your comfort zone and hang around extroverts. I have noticed that I am usually uncomfortable at very crowded events like weddings or large parties and so, I recently made friends with friends who are extroverts and definitely love attending events even when they are impromptu. Without excuses, I get to attend networking events that I didn’t have to plan to attend.
  5. And lastly, attend public speaking classes; online and offline. Feel free to take baby steps but make sure you are showing considerable growth steps towards becoming the person you want to be and your business, more profitable.

You can do it! Cheers.
