As the creator the Smart Woman’s Life Planner armed with the vision to help women realise their full potential, be more productive, work smarter and live a balanced life without burning out, I have closely monitored the lives of some very smart people especially women and these tips listed below are consistent among them.
Ability to plan ahead using a Planner: They love to write down and not just on any piece of paper, they own and use Planners. To achieve career goals and discipline, planning is a must. The SWLP is the best tool ever towards achieving your career goals because it is quite detailed and meets the needs of all classes of people. It has the monthly review session where you think about and write down what you have done, activities you have engaged in throughout the month, identified gaps and areas where you need improvement or help.
Have a morning ritual: They have morning rituals, they don’t just get up and start acting up! I know it is really hard getting up in the morning (ask me if you don’t) but if you develop a ritual that you look forward to, you’ll enjoy getting up from your bed. Waking up ritual should include; meditating, prayers, reviewing your goals and strategising for the day, planning, listening to positive affirmations (I love to do this!) and exercising….including that cup of water or lemon water.
Set boundaries for social media, family and personal time: Smart women don’t spend the whole day on social media or live without boundaries. Whenever we pick up our phones without a plan or time limit, we find ourselves spending too much valued time doing something we didn’t plan to do or just doing nothing in so much time. Setting limit and boundaries helps us to make the best out of everything. Take time out from the internet during family time; turn off the computers or the internet and remain focused.
Set and limit your priorities: Smart time managing is focusing on one thing at a time. This is very essential because focusing on priorities will help you achieve your goals and with better outcomes. Make a list of things you plan to achieve this week, then prioritise the list items in order of importance; a priority list should have about 4-5 items. Do these instead of a to do list with 10 items. Before you move to number two on your priority list, make sure you have achieved number one.
Have a weekly review: Going back and forth on what worked, lessons learned and documenting success weekly is really very helpful. It is at this point that strategies are redefined and that makes you smarter! The beauty of the SWLP is that it helps you to briefly review your week without giving out too much details.
Let’s go be like them, SMART WOMEN!
