One of the things I will miss when my kids leave primary school is packing their lunch boxes. Waking up as early as 4:30am to prepare meals or snacks for Prince and Princess is something I dread so much but hey! I get to remind myself that someday it will all go away whenever I am overwhelmed with so many things to do.
So here you have my top 5 lunch box tips and ideas. I really hope you get something from them.
- Purchasing the ultimate lunch box is key! The lunch box must be able to keep hot food warm or cold drinks cool. Make sure the lunch box is easy to open and also, easy to clean up.
- The water bottle must be easy to open and non spill. A plastic bottle is much better than a glass. The water bottles or juice bottles with straws are usually harder to clean up as you might worry about dirts in the hard to clean areas. Make sure it is one that is easy to use and wash.
- Pack food you know your child eats. Keep the meal simple and varied. If you would like to experiment with new recipes, do all the experiments during the holidays or weekends and not during school day.
- Try to plan meals before bedtime; the night before. Mornings are so unpredictable and for those of us in this part of the world where electricity is not constant, mornings without electricity can be challenging. So much to do, so little time and no power.
- Asking your child’s teacher to help open the pack of juice and assist with feeding will make it easier for the child to enjoy the lunch pack.
So there you have it! My top 5 lunch box tips-Did I miss any out?
