ME, MYSELF AND KURU

Hey Everyone! I hope you are doing great.
I love travelling, sight seeing and adventures. I love the outdoor, open spaces and some fresh air. I love the gift of life and above all, I love God and I am grateful for these gifts.
Kuru is located in Plateau state and on the outskirts of Jos. Few minutes to Bukuru, Rayfield and to the Government House in Jos. As part of the PACFaH partnership and scaling up nutrition in Nigeria, I was invited for a meeting at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) situated in Kuru and I couldn’t say no. I had so many stories about Kuru; especially the one about “where they get the MNI”….yes that kind of talk. I knew I had to be there!
Pssssst. I was going there for the sight seeing, the lovely weather and well, for the fresh vegetables. I stayed at the lovely Steffan Hotel at Rayfield, Jos and it was okay. I should give them a 3 star. The sheets were clean, toilet on point but I did not enjoy their food. I remember ordering for yam chips and egg sauce on the first day and It was not exactly what I wanted.

Overall, I had a great experience and I had some extra time to explore the environment before heading back home to Abuja. I passed by the Health Body Clinic which is also a Hotel and I saw some lovely birds.

I am usually very comfortable in the traditional ankara when I am in core Northern states. I always want to feel accepted and comfortable with the people I am meeting with and you can’t go wrong with our local fabrics.

The venue for lunch was a big hall filled with tables and chairs. It reminded me of my days in boarding school. I was not comfortable at all. And the food……..

Wait for it……….

Not what I expected. No spice, no PEPPER!

Work over and I asked around for the nearest resort or a nice place to look around. My friend Jesse recommended the Rayfield Resort. Just minutes away from the Hotel I was staying in. My luck!
Entry fee to the Resort costs 300 Naira for one person and I must say I was overwhelmed by ambience of the resort. I liked the resort, the water and that moment I wished I could own a house by the sea and just meditate about how much our Father loves us and thank God for his mercies and his gifts. The calmness of the sea gave me great joy and coolness of the water was just enough pedicure for more tired feet. Thank you Lord!

I didn’t plan to swim. lol.

Honestly, at this point I didn’t want to go home. I loved the feeling of being by the sea and could not wish for more. Hopefully, I’ll go visiting again in my beach wear and with my family. My kids would love this!
