Yesterday, I stopped by the roadside to buy some fresh corn…you know corn is in season right? Anyway, I saw this lovely young woman I imagine she is a local (Gbagi) sitting on what looked like a stone beside her was her baby I think should be less than year.
She was feeding her baby with pap. the pap was too watery I thought it was water until I saw the colour…..It was definitely pap but it was very watery. From six months, feeding a baby should be like feeding a mini adult. The pap should be thick enough to stay on the spoon. Mothers are getting it wrong and that is the reason for the current status of malnutrition.
I hope to start community counselling on Infant and Young Child Feeding very soon for mothers and care givers in my area. My little way of giving back to my community.
