THE ORANGE SCARF IS NOT JUST AN ORANGE SCARF

The Orange Scarf has a way of reminding me of how beautiful life is for women and girls around the world. Though these are a vulnerable group of people but they are filled but with so much growth, strength and courage….they never give up…they soar, rise and fly!

I have always loved being a woman not because of the honey coated voices of women or the contours at the hips or the bright coloured clothes and beautiful designs women wear but because I am strong, I can move any mountain, get to the top, raise my skirt and shout “I survived, I conquered and I am ready for more”.

The colour orange reminds me of love, respect and optimism. When I started the Orange Scarf Campaign, I was really hurt with the huge number of cases of abuse and I wanted something that would be a constant reminder that all forms of violence against women and girls should end and that we should support and encourage these group of people to succeed instead of falling; embrace education, rights to sexual and reproductive health, gender rights and equality. The colour orange was right and I just love it!

It is going to be a beautiful year. The SDGs are here and we are going to make it happen for women and girls in Nigeria.

Spread the word and support the Orange Scarf Campaign.

Ciao!
