IT IS A HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM ME TO YOU

Happy New Year Everyone!

It all happened so fast right? 2015 is over and 2016 is here….how time flies! I am excited and more than ready to kick start the New Year….so much to do and so little time. I had a beautiful end of the year and new year celebrations with my family and in laws and it was AMAZING!

This was my first time and with the kids, it was fun. From feeding the goats to chasing the dogs, cycling, cooking with firewood *covers eyes*, having discussions that were not work related, meeting new people, eating party rice and drinking peppersoups, playing with fireworks or ‘banga’ as it is called and laughing out loud when I didn’t understand a word of the Ibo when spoken to….on point. I did all these and many more.

I hope you had fun because there will never be another 2015….never! It was sort of a challenging period because of the fuel scarcity but as soon as the parties began, the fuel queues gradually disappeared. I made a road trip to Nnewi from Abuja through Kogi, Edo, Delta and finally Anambra states. I had not passed this route in a very long time so I curious to see what the roads looked like and yes, most of the roads were in a very bad shape especially in Edo and Kogi states.

Travelling with the kids was very interesting . They were impressive and cooperated all through the almost 8 hours on the road. I should do tips on road trips with kids post soon. We listened to music, played the game ‘I spy’ and cracked jokes.

I really didn’t want the stress of cleaning and cooking on arrival and for the next two days so I brought along a pot of well made soup, some coconut rice and fresh tomatoes and I guess it went a long way.

I had a swell holiday not long enough to have rested as much as I really wanted but short enough to make a lasting impression and above all, God was faithful!

I didn’t have time to make resolutions….maybe I will find time to review 2015 and plan for 2016 this weekend. Wishing you all a blessed and prosperous year ahead.

What about you? how did you spend the holidays? Please share.
