The Girls in ICT Day is marked on April 23rd every year. This year’s event which took place at the Newton Hotel, Abuja was put together by Social Good Nigeria. SGN is co-founded by my friend and colleague, Esther Agbarakwe. Those in attendance were young women and girls who are interested in ICT and young school girls from different private and public schools in FCT. The highlight of the event was the launch of the “pop up incubator project, a project targeted at developing the capacity of young professionals that are interested in ICT and promote the involvement of young girls and women in ICT.
The project which is in collaboration with the Swedish Embassy in Abuja and the Enspire Hub Incubator, an ICT firm in Abuja will be commencing its pilot phase at Technology villages in 6 major cities namely: Abuja, Jos, Lagos, Warri, Oyo and Kano.
