The Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, on Monday, launched the new yellow fever cards. Prof. Chukwu said that the Federal Ministry of Health had started the printing of new yellow fever cards with encoded security details to replace the old ones and will be made available from September, 2013. The new Yellow card was launched in the presence of The Perm. Sec. Fatima Bamidele, Director FH Dept. FMOH Dr. Bridget Okoeguale, International Partners and stakeholders in the health industry.
In May 2012, about 125 Nigerians were deported by the South African authorities because they were alleged not to have possessed genuine yellow fever card.
