FIRST FEMALE CHIEF JUDGE TO BE SWORN IN; JUSTICE MARIAM MUKTHAR

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan will, this morning, swear in the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN)-designate, Justice Aloma Mariam Mukthar, as the 13th indigenous and first female Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Mr Sunday Olorundahunsi, confirmed to the Nigerian Tribune that the swearing-in was scheduled for today.

The Senate, last week Wednesday, confirmed her nomination forwarded to it by President Jonathan, as required by the constitution.

Justice Mukthar is taking over from Justice Dahiru Musdapher, who officially retired on Sunday at the mandatory age of 70.

She is expected to retire on November 20, 2014, when she would be 70.
CONGRATULATIONS TO HER. Now I can see reasons why I should work harder and diligently…….it pays!.
