WHYTE’S ADVOCATE OF THE MONTH……ESTHER AGBARAKWE




I am really excited and I need to shout this “Whyte’s advocate of the month is Esther Agbarakwe”, yes “Esther”!!!. I worked with Esther at the White Ribbon Alliance Nigeria office for about four months and waoooh! she inspired me. Her passion is amazing, her strength, great. I learnt so much and great things too………advocacy, communication, managing events, holding events, conducting E-consultations………She is an amazing young woman.
Let’s meet Esther; 
Esther is a climate change policy expert and trainer with extensive experience in creating, facilitating and managing youth-led projects. She has over eight years of experience working on Advocacy on sexuality and environmental issues. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Calabar.

Esther has represented Nigeria and Africa at over ten high-level global governance meetings on sustainable development and has served as the African coordinator of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) Youth and Children Major Group. In 2009, Esther co-founded the Nigerian Youth Climate Coalition, the biggest youth climate movement in Nigeria and serves as a technical Advisor to the African Youth Initiative on Climate Change (AYICC) where she led the African Youth delegation to the 2011 UN Climate Negotiations in Durban, South Africa
She was selected as ‘Women Deliver Global 100 Young Leaders’ for her strong interest in women’s issues and was invited to attend the “Women Deliver” Global Conference in DC in June 2010. Esther is the recipient of the 2010 LEAP Africa Annual Nigerian Youth Leadership Award, and a 2011 The Future Award Nominee.
A Dekeyser & Friends Foundation and Commonwealth Youth Climate Fellow. Esther is currently serving as an International Advocacy Fellow with Population Action International in Washington DC. United States
 She is currently attending the UN Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development, 2012.
